Why is there a LIMIT label?

I know the {LIMIT/dn arrow} button steps down, but why is there a LIMIT label on it?
In all my other scanners, it initiates limit searching, which doesn't seem to be the case on the 780. Probably a non-issue, but still seems odd it's there if it doesn't mean anything.
