Harold, what you are trying to do is not efficient. Even if the scan speed was much faster, you would still miss calls/callbacks if you had all 10 banks full and were scanning all because the scanner would most likely stop on many other transmissions before it would get back to your primary interest. You have a few choices but the first one is to be more selective in what you scan. Less channels in less banks. What many of us do is have multiple scanners going at once. There are many possibilities but what I do is have 1 BC780 only listening to our local PD/FD TRS's. A 2nd 780 scanning our IL State Police TRS and county sheriff conventional. A BC-9000 for all other towns PD's and FD's within a 20 mile radius and occasional Govt./Military/Misc. Then Pro-2005, 2006, and 2042 scanners w/Optoscan boards running Probe software scanning/search-logging all the above (sans trunking). These are really the cats meow and the most flexible. This might be overkill for some but it does help to have at least 2 scanners so that you can have one scanning just the most important/local stuff and the second one scanning everything else. This way you shouldn't miss local traffic. My opinion? Buy another 780!!! |
