It's actually not tough at all. To program the Fleet Map, preess Menu|Trunk Data|System Type. Select TYPE I for the system type. Then you can use the VFO knob or the up and down keys to go to PRESET 10. E1 P10 is nomneclature left over from the original trunking scanners, the 780 doesn't use it. Once you have set the Type and Fleet Map, you can enter the frequencies and then the Talk Group IDs and Alpha Tags.

Personally, I use Andy's 780 Programmer, since I don't care about controlling the scanner, just programming it. With this program, you enter all of the data (except Fleet Maps) into an MS Excel spread sheet and then use the programmer to load the information into the scanner. It saves lots and lots of time. The only "fault" with the program, if you want to call it that, is that you have to enter Type I/IIi Fleet Maps manually. Other than that, it's a snap.
