780 Programming and Software Grief

I waited with baited breath for the release of the 780XLT. It was all worth it and I have enjoyed it immensely. Takes some getting used to to use and program but it's the best scanner I've ever had and has all been fun and worth it. I used WinScan780 demo and read reviews on it - also used the BC245XLT version which seemed very good. Also waited with baited breath for the WinScan780 version to be released and living in Canada with shipping and duty spent as much (or more) than most utility programs I have ever used. The program is just mediocre I find as far as functionality and with the 30 minute demo you really don't get a chance to feel it out properly. The omission of a mode setting NFM in particular to me anyway is the biggest glitch in it. It is certainly not "total programming and radio control" as I had hoped. Several e-mails to Pozilla about possible patches and updates remain unanswered but I guess that's there "policy" as I've read here several times. I did download the Trunk Star 780 demos earlier today and tried it briefly but as i always seem to do, I read the postings on here after the fact about WinScan not working properly after using Trunk Star and sure as can be I find that now. When connecting, it's now not showing me the radio settings (Dislay Contrast, Squelch etc ) and is giving me a bunch of incorrect displays not received before even after reloading WinScan several times. Has anyone found this and can you offer any suggestions? I love the scanner and if I really had to I could program it by hand (and grieve when i had to redo it I'm sure) and still love it. It's all this damn buggy software that's giving me the grief. I'd keep using Trunk Star but as indicated elsewhere here - compared to WinScan its upload and download is VERY slow. And most importantly - I own WinScan already. For the price to get it here in Canada - it's GOING to work. Just wish Pozilla gave me more support and confidence at this stage. What can I say - the 780's the BEST!
