Thanks for the info. The G3 laptop I have has the old, round, mac 8-pin connector (although there are newer G3s that have USB connectors). Also, it only has one serial connection. Apparently on the laptop, the printer and modem ports are shared. In other words, you can either print or use an external modem, but not both at the same time. Finally, the laptop doesn't have a "full" keyboard. It doesn't have the numbers keypad, or the page-down/page-up buttons on the far right side like most of the desktop models do. Could that affect the program?

BTW, my local CompUSA store has a short DB9->Mac round serial cable that sells for under 15 bucks (that's the one I have). It's in the Palm Pilot (PDA) area of the store. I forget the exact brand and name of the product, but they had a bunch of these converters. Then you should be able to find a DB9->DB9 cable just about anywhere.

Let me know if you have any luck connecting to the mac through the old style serial port. I'm pretty much at a loss on what to do from here. The program is just not doing anything.
