I just talked with a high ranking official of the E. F. Johnson Company, who is involved in government contracts for digital 800 trunking radios. He assured me that Uniden Corp. is ACTUALLY in the process of developing a unit that will receive digital signals, for release later this year. I spoke with a rep for the Uniden Corp R&D folks, however, and they claim that the work has not begun AND they are not even sure if it will be pursued. Still, the E.F. Johnson guy was CERTAIN about what is to come this year....perhaps he knows more than Uniden is willing to acknowledge at this time. Thought the group might be interested in hearing this. Sorry I don't have more to report right now. I'll certainly post another message if I can ascertain anything more definitive.-Dave
