780 Wish List

I've had my 780 for sometime now, and finally got to start really using it mobile over the past couple of weeks. There are a couple of things that I think should be improved in the next version whether it's a handheld, mobile, or whatever...

1> Increase the number of ScanLists for talkgroups. Several trunked systems in the Dallas/Fort Worth area have way more than 100 talkgroups. The Fort Worth system has several hundred. I don't want to scan them all, all of the time, but it would be nice to be able to turn Scan Lists on/off for focused scanning.

2> Even more important for large trunked systems, we need more alpha tag memory. Perhaps the Scan List Alpha tag method isn't the best. It would be really cool if you could associate an alphatag with any talkgroup, even if it's not in a scan list. That would be very handy when searching and finding talkgroups that you don't see active as often.

3> I often find myself screwing up the enabled/disabled scanlist and banks. It's too easy to mess things up when the modes are being switched between scanlist and regular banks. It would be nice to have a way to hold a particular trunk bank active while you enable/disable scan list. Likewise, it would be nice to be able to enable/disable banks without messing up scanlist. Does that make sense, or am I the only one that finds this a pain? I know the Data button switches you between selecting Scan Lists and Banks, but once scanning continues onto the next bank, or you come across conventional banks, it gets disorrienting (sp?).

4> How about a way to got to a particular talkgroup on a trunked system bypassing all of the other active banks?

Uniden: All of these enhancements in a handheld by the end of the year would rock!

Happy Scanning,
Ben
