Thanks Rich I just looked and - yes that is an almost answer. I had actually found that pressing the tuning knob would give you either Freq or Chan. The other day I decided that I hated the knobs on the VFO, Volume and Squelch. I swore black and blue that I would replace them asap. I tried to pull off the main knob on the VFO. It didn't budge one bit. I then gave it a push, just to make sure it stayed in its true position. About 5 minutes later, I went to change channels, didn't I? Only, it was now in Freq mode and tuned accordingly. I quickly opened up the manual to see where it went wrong or should I say, where I went wrong. I found the answer. Still though, this VFO mode as described in the "Additional Features" is not really what I was after. It's better than no VFO but not by much. It means that to tune in and around the desired frequency, you have to find the memory near it. Keying in the desired frequency will of course, overwrite the channel you are hovering over. I guess the one thing in common with all new scanners is that keep you on your toes, guessing.
