Thanks for the comments. Let us know how this works out. I might set up a personality for the radio and and program it in to see how it works. Once I get the radio installed in the new truck that is. As for the Austin Antenna. I guess it depends. I didn't have that much luck with it and went back to the A/S MON 52 that I was using. Some other people that I know swear by the Austin. The A/S has great across the bands performance, even on 800. Another antenna that people swear by is made by New-Tronics (Hustler) I forget the model number but some media people that I know have used them for years with great luck. I do know that you can get them for about $20.00 from the Hustler web site. The only thing that I don't like about the A/S antenna is the shiny stainless steel mast. I'm trying an experiment to change that. I dipped the antenna is a liquid plastic called "Plasti Dip" which was developed for dipping the handles of small tools. It coats well, and the only question is if it will effect the performance of the antenna. It's plastic, so I can't see why. I'll let the group know.
