This "dropping the data channel and rescanning" behavior, even with all conventional frequencies locked out, is a known idiosyncrasy with the 780. (With conventional freqs in the mix it performs correctly and rescans every couple of seconds so there is less traffic missed. The rescan rate w/no conv freqs is much longer.) I have done some quick tests on mine and believe it will only do this drop and rescan if there is no traffic at all on the trunk system, regardless of what you are actually scanning. This means if you are using a scan list and those IDs are quiet, the rescan will still not take place if other IDs are active in the data stream. I think this adds to the confusion - more active systems will show this behavior much less often or not at all. |
