Thanks to everyone on this board who replied to my previous questions. I went ahead at your recommendations and bought LMR-400 instead of using RG-6. I'm in progress of my discone antenna installation on the end of a 15 foot mast. My question now is whether I route the LMR-400 up inside and through the mast, looped out the top and down through the discone radials and connected at the bottom, or is it better to run it straight up the outside of the mast and connect it without any looping through the radials? I was concerned the loop from the top of the mast down through the radials and connected at the bottom that this loop might affect reception. Oh, and the PL-259 connectors, which the Discone uses, I am told are only good to approx 400 Mhz. My BC780 is good up through 1300 Mhz. Is there really a problem with using PL-259 vs N connectors? Is it just minor db loss at higher frequencies? I'll be listening to the whole 25-1300 Mhz range. Thanks, Scott
