I have them both.

To date I have not noticed much difference in receiving ability - but I know that is going to be very specific to terrain and what frequencies that you are trying to listen to.

The thing that I like about the 92 is it will priority scan while scanning both trunk and conventional (although it will not pr scan while doing the trunking part).

I think the 92 is a little slower scan speed - although I've found the 780 really isn't as fast as advertised if you are using PL tones.

I like the 92 if for no other reason than it has the alpha tags for the frequencies.

I also use a couple of 245's primarily for situations where I want to scan a lot of frequencies fast.

Radio Shack seems to have pretty good sales periodically on their equipment so I'd keep my eyes open if you determine you want one.

Regards,

Wayne
