  • Other Info
  • Early 92s had problems monitoring large Motorola systems which was largely due to the subaudible data method the radio firmware was using for tracking operations. There were also some "glitches" noticed on some Ericsson systems as well.
  • Date codes for this model range from 07A99 (July '99) to 04A00 (April '00)
  • In late July 2000, RadioShack released the "PRO-92A" which used an upgraded version of the PRO-92 firmware (v3.25) also found in the PRO-2067 which fixed almost all problems that were found in the original PRO-92 thanks to changing to the control channel method of trunk tracking
  • The 92A can be differentiated from the 92 by looking at the back panel and finding the FCC ID sticker. In the upper right corner it should have a Catalog number of '20-522A' compared to the '20-522' of the original 92s
  • Date codes for the 92A are 05A00 (May '00)
  • In September 2000, RadioShack released the "PRO-92B" which was upgraded to version 3.28 firmware (whose only known difference is in a slightly tweaked SAME weather message text), but more importantly production was moved to China (PRO-92 and PRO-92A were made in Japan) most likely to save on production costs
  • To identify a PRO-92B, find the FCC ID sticker on the back panel and note the 'B' after the 20-522 model number
  • Date codes for the 92B started with 06A00 (June '00)
  • To identify the firmware version number of any PRO-92, while it is powering up press and hold the 3 key
